Stacey's DIY Sunburst Mirror

Hi All!  First blog, so bear with me.

I recently created a sunburst mirror.  Here's the finished project.

Materials Needed:

1. Plain framed mirror.  I found this one at Walmart:

2.  Dowel rods of 3 different sizes.  I used:
  • 8 3/8in dowel rods
  • 8 1/4in dowel rods
  • 16 5/16in dowel rods
3. Either silver spray paint or metallic silver paint, your preference.  Both are available at craft stores.
4. Several small round mosaic tile mirrors.

5. Glue gun
6. Gorilla glue
7. Painter's tape
8. Picture hanging kit

Instructions:

1.  Prepare your mirror for painting the frame by covering it with painter's tape.
2.  Paint frame of mirror.
3.  Paint your dowel rods.  Allow to dry.
4.  Turn your dried mirror over.  Use the dowel rods for arrangement and measuring purposes to divide sections off like you would with a pizza.  Mark with a pencil where you want the dowel rods.  5.  Saw your dowel rods in half.
6.  Glue your dowel rods to the back of the mirror.

7. Use your painters tape to mark where you want to glue the mirrors.  On each large dowel rod, I put 4 large circle mirrors.  Medium dowel rods have 3 medium circle mirrors.  The small dowel rods have 2 small circle mirrors.
8.  Take your picture hanging kit and use gorilla glue to attach two fasteners.
9.  Once dry, attach the wire to your fasteners.
10. Now hang on the wall!

Good luck!
